Education Requirements

All teachers, tutor/interventionists and instructors must have at least a 4-year degree (master’s preferred) and be licensed and/or certified in a trained discipline or grade-level content area for which they will be providing instruction. Teachers who are certified and/or licensed but are currently seeking a higher-level degree or endorsement are encouraged to apply.

Documented experience delivering intervention services to Grades 4–8 students with specific reading disorders, special education students, English language learners, and students who struggle with conceptual mathematics and math literacy is required for Gifted Apples teachers. The ability to work with diverse populations and grade levels of students, including adult learners with specific reading disorders or limited reading ability, is necessary.

Professional Role

Teacher responsibilities require planning, differentiating, individualizing, and implementing instruction online for individual students and groups of 2-4 students. Excellent writing, speaking and social communication skills are paramount. As part of the intervention process, teachers and tutors/interventionists will administer assessments, write evaluation reports, design intervention plans, and document learning sessions.

All teachers and/or tutors and/or interventionists should have some technology background in creating and/or embedding video content, uploading files and working with Excel to create data charts and tables. Teachers must feel comfortable working in an online environment and be familiar with learning platforms and digital curriculum.

Experience is required when working with various populations and ages of students. Our instructional focus is for students in grades 4 through 12. We also provide adult learners with reading and G.E.D. test preparation instruction.

We follow research-based principles and our tutors and interventionists are required to deliver responsive intervention instruction.

If you are passionate about educating students who struggle with reading and specific reading disorders (i.e., dyslexia), have math disabilities or struggle with comprehension of math concepts, and would like to be part of Gifted Apple's vision to teach foundational to complex reading skills to older struggling readers, we look forward to hearing from you.
